Pono (the service) will presumably sell FLAC, “although the PonoPlayer can play most popular high-res music formats from other sources”. The unit features headphone and analog-out mini jacks…but no digital outs.
Among the premiums: a vanilla (well, black or yellow) model is $300. Engraved/limited units with superstar-branded engraving for $400; delivery for both in October. Oh, and for $5000 you get a night at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay and a VIP dinner and listening party with Mr. Young.

UPDATE: As of 5pm PT, the Neil Young models are sold out (only 487 Arcade Fire models left, fans) and it looks like the project’s going to be fully funded in the next few hours, 33 days ahead of schedule. $630,000 of the $800,000 goal has been raised in less than seven hours.
